You know it's hard to discuss Mr. Bill Smith, as he's a good friend of mine.

I mean, I could say he's one of the coolest members of the Downtown Sacramento music scene...

Or I could say he Wishes he were one of the coolest members...

Anyways, Bill stared out playing Trumpet for Falconi back in '91 when Dutch's current ladyfriend, Madame Windy, brought him to Dutch's attention.

Not only did he play a mean Trumpet, but he was invaluable as a stage, props and idea man. The Infamous Penis Guillotine was his baby all the way.

Later, we discovered Bill had a bee-yoo-tiful singing voice as well, as he would bring the house down with Bobby Short's "Pigfoot", or bring a tear to your eye with the lovely "Is This Whiskey" (penned by Harley White of Papa's Culture).

Bill, along with fellow Trumpeteer, Jim Pantages, also led the first Falconi spin-off group, the incredible Spider Smith and the Sinister Seven.

Now, after the tragedy, he's dropped the Trumpet, and plays only percussion for the Orchestra. (he still sings a song occasionally, thank god.)

He was once a big shot at the Sac Bee...

And he's a gosh-dang gosh-darn good guy too...
